Description
She stood alone looking through a wire mesh fence at the large towering building apartment before her. Where did the flowers go, where is nature - instead of the beauty of the wilderness she was swamped by the concrete of an inner-city jungle.
Urban development and block like architectural shapes made her appear small and insignificant. What does the future hold for this young girl - when will she run with the wild winds and ignore and forget the apartment blocks that shadow her vision.
The back and white flats stood motionless as they young girl was lost in thoughts. How long must I be a prisoner she thought. When can I escape this inner-city mess, this ordered yet puzzling surreal entrapment that shrinks the soul and banishes humanity to a life of construction and steel fencing. The windows peered out at the young girl, in uniformity by their shape and size, they stared back at the young girl
....what did C G Jung say "As a child I felt myself to be alone, and I am still, because I know things and must hint at things which others apparently know nothing of, and for the most part do not want to know.” or was it Nietzsche "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."
Only the young girl in City Surrounds Me I Stand Alone can answer that question and mystery.
