Description
Engine Block Inner Workings is a Mechanical abstract art photograph of an aged vintage engine block in cool blue tones with a subtle feeling of the forgotten era of retro machinery. Having a real love of bygone machines this work of art deals with the past as well as the future. Fading metal bolts, nuts, and springs are the key feature of the items on display in this toned photograph. Masses of encrusted paint work the image tells us about how time from the new birth of the machine works towards a fading of both the paintwork as well as the state of the agriculture machine. But is this really an aged combine harvester, or is it the inner workings of a car? Perhaps it is an aged tractor, how do we as viewers know about the history of this once glorious shiny machine?
The cold blue tones work well against a white background, engineers and those interested in engineering will find a true beauty in the inner workings and the level of detail shown in this work of art. Colors always emit emotions so the idea of using a cold blue icy tone connects the artwork with the past, perhaps suggesting frozen time, an icy relic uncovered by the digging process that reveals those ancient pasts, an archaeology that explores the past.
How does this machine work? What would happen if the spring rusts and breaks, would this device stop its work, and what would happen if it did break down? The machine undoubtedly would end up in a dusty scrap yard, collecting more dirt and detritus, the paint flakes accelerating towards the impending doom of nothingness.
The capture of this image took place on a cool afternoon. I thought this work of art would look great on a home wall; the bright details of the metal connections, like the fastened bolts and nuts, covered in ancient paint looked great in the setting sun.
Engine Block Inner Workings by John D Williams is part of his mechanical abstract machine art that focuses purely on the inner workings of vast agriculture and forgotten behemoths of industry.
